Many UCSF cores provide expertise in designing and conducting clinical research studies in addition to supplying equipment, technical services, and, in some cases, pilot grants. Study Design

Clinical and Translational Science Institute

  • Consultation Services: Comprehensive, integrated consultations in diverse research fields for every stage of a study -- from study design through publication, biostatistics and data management.
  • Regulatory Knowledge and Support: Navigate regulatory approvals, including submissions to UCSF Institutional Review Board
  • Community Engagement: Engage with communities and inform public health policies, from recruitment to identifying community-based issues and developing community-supported solutions.

Premier Human Subjects Core

  • Consultation on human subjects study design, data collection form development, outcome measures, and research ethicsĀ

Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Recruitment Services: Meet recruitment goals with resources that include consultation, social media design, advertising, EHR-based recruitment, budgeting, and techniques for recruiting minority populations.

Premier Human Subjects Core: Create system-wide EHR queries to generate cohort counts by phenotype; generate patient lists for recruitment; recruitment of human subjects.
