Neuroimaging Technology Research Center (NTRC)

The Human Imaging Core Services is excited about the upcoming opening of our new research imaging facility - the Neuroimaging Technology Research Center (NTRC). Housed within the Department of Psychiatry's Pritzker outpatient psychiatry building at Mission Bay, the center will be run by the Department of Radiology, under the leadership of Dr. Leo Sugrue MD PhD, as a collaborative effort between the departments of Radiology, Psychiatry, Neurology, and Neurosurgery.

The center's mission is to be a model for the application of advanced imaging and image-guided therapy in the diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychiatric disease. The NTRC has two next generation 3T Siemens Cima.X MRI scanners with gradients optimized for advanced neuroimaging applications, as well as neuromodulation suites for focused ultrasound and transcranial magnetic stimulation. Construction should be completed in late August with testing of the systems anticipated to be ongoing through September before the center is finally ready to open its doors for business in early October.

A multidisiplinary team of administrative staff and faculty in the departments of Radiology and Psychiatry has been working diligently to develop the center's operational model which will be managed within the existing radiology research core and recharge framework. Stay tuned for more details about the available resources at the center and how you can begin to utilize this exciting new resource to advance your research at UCSF.
