Funding is available for instrumentation that will be managed in a UCSF Campus Core. Institutional Matching Instrumentation Awards are now available, up to $200,000, through the RAP Spring Cycle. The application deadline is February 27, 2017.

The goal of this award is to promote the availability of instrumentation at UCSF, improve cost effectiveness, encourage sharing among individual investigators, research groups and departments, and to foster a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. Funds can be used towards the cost of instruments, to fund essential personnel or maintenance costs during instrument validation. Funds should be used to match funding from extramural grants or from other UCSF funding sources.

The Research Resource Programs’ Strategic Advisory Committee (RRP SAC) held a half day retreat in October to discuss the status of RRP programs. A special guest at the retreat was EVCP Dan Lowenstein. The participants discussed different models of core governance and identified areas that the RRP could work to improve core efficiency. The RRPSAC plans to meet again in early 2017 to further this discussion and continue its work in improving the management of cores so researchers can spend more time in the lab!
